Luther

EXCERPT AND INTRODUCTION

It was good, quiet, and peaceful. There was hardly any trouble of any kind…I mean except for the plague, the occasional war, massive ignorance and poverty and the encroaching Muslims in the east…it was a pretty good time to be alive.

But the thin emaciated, 33-year-old monk…the one with a bad haircut…the one teaching Bible at their university…the one living in the monastery at the edge of town…the one who was always was so serious…the one who had a large piece of paper rolled up in his hand and who was weaving his way through the crowds up to the castle church and the large wooden door was about to change all that.

He was about to fasten the piece of paper in his hand to the front door of the church. That was all he intended to do.

But what he was really about to do was to start a revolution that would turn the world upside down.
